Character HISTORY:

As Pale as Hamlet's Ophelia and arguably twice as mad.

Cassie's world is the every day world that we live. Skins as a series is entirely about how modern teenagers live. It is their day to day life, their love, their loss, and their crazy antics. It is about friendship, vices, and generally trying to deal with the way the world fucks us up. While some things are a little extreme like a drug dealer trying to kill one of the main characters or later on in the second series, a crazy psychologist killing off a patient's boyfriend, ultimately the driving plot is sex, drugs, and being an adolescent in today's world.

Cassie is one of the main characters, a girl from Bristol. She's one of the group of Tony's friends, and an important part of the plot between his best friend Sid. She's not the most stable and seemingly aloof, but Cassie has the most understanding of the other characters, and she knows things about them even before the audience does. She's very much the heart of the group even if she can be vindictive and spiteful when she's hurt.

Character PERSONALITY:

Cassie is a light, airy girl who as Tony described is "thin, she's blonde, and she says 'wow' a lot'. She comes across as a this eccentric girl who is just lost. Which is odd, because on the flip side, Cassie is also the character that seems to understand everyone the most, what makes them tick, what they do, she's also good at knowing secrets and figuring things out.

The girl has a lot of mental problems though. As far as we know, all she's ever been diagnosed with is anorexia, but she also has very low self esteem, telling Sid once that she didn't eat for three days to make herself lovely for him. She also tried to kill herself and was hospitalized at least twice. She's isn't the most stable person and she actively does drugs, once also selling.

Cassie very much has control issues. Her life hasn't often had much of it, and her parents weren't exactly good parents. There was an overly sexual nature in her house, and her parents neglected her baby brother several times in order to engage in their own acts. She's definitely not prude because of this. Sex has become just an activity for her. She came into the series as the girl Sid was supposed to lose her virginity to, and bluntly asks him later, "so you're going to fuck me later?" She's supposedly good at it which is supposed to outweigh her craziness.

Because of her control issues, she needs to let go. This is why she does drugs, stops eating, and often has sex. She tells this to Sid when he asks what to do when the world loses control. Cassie wants someone to care though. She starts to pursue something with Sid because of this. She hallucinated that he was texting her to eat, but most of all, he changed everything when he asked why and how she managed to trick people into not eating. Cassie goes through all the motions of how to get people off her back. He confronts her about the lying and she tells him "it's not like anyone cares". He stops and tells her "I care". That was it. That was when she wanted more.

Unfortunately things never really work out for her. Easily at least. She tries to be everything he wants. She's flighty and often dresses up in antique dresses and updos. She spends her time on park benches, and when she's in hospital, she befriended quite a few people. Cassie ended up dating one of the boys there to get back at Sid as well as the fact that he wanted her. Someone wanted her.

She can't deal with things. If something goes bad, she reacts violently to it. She has to run. She left for Scotland when it hurt too much to deal with Sid, she tried to kill herself when it got too complicated with him, and in the second season, after Chris died in her arms, without telling anyone she took a flight to New York. That's what Cassie does.

She doesn't like secrets, often being open and putting everything out on the line. When her roommate and bestfriend Chris and his girlfriend start hiding things, she's the one that confronts them. Chris is, essentially, dying, and Jal was pregnant. She calls out Michelle for playing with Sid and Tony.

Cassie does care deeply. Too deeply. That's why things tend to end to badly. Things do end, and she can't handle it. Her relationship with Chris is evidence of that. They start out as just acquaintances, but even in the second episode before everything got really bad, she tucks him in. She ends up being his roommate, and after that she even goes so far as cleaning a wound that was under his testicles. This is why his death hits her so hard. He seized up and started bleeding in her arms. And that was it. Her only reaction was that she had to leave.

Things turn to shit, she tells Sid. Even when things were good before Chris died. She knew things would end, even if it was just the end of the semester. She's constantly waiting for the other shoe to drop since she's never had stability. But then part of that is on her with the way she lives, hospitals and ODing and all the sex. It's a catch 22.

She is good at hiding it behind her smile. People do realize she's a little off with how airy she is, but if you didn't know her and didn't know she was hospitalized, she would just seem an eccentric, friendly girl.

Over all Cassie wants to find her place. It's probably why she runs so often. While she knows her parents loved her in what way they could, because of their neglect and the way they seemingly left her on her own (heavily implied in season 7), Cassie is looking for someone to just make things right. She doesn't realize it's within herself, that all she needs is family. So she just floats along, very much lost and always looking for someone to attach herself to even if it's for vain or surface reasons. She just wants love, though it really isn't until she's older that she sort of figures that out. For now she's willing to let others dictate things, once telling Chris, "Love, is, like really important. It's good to be loved. Even if it's one night."

Chosen WEAPON: A cloak that allows the wearer to gain the abilities of those around them. At first it will be very basic and rely entirely upon touch. If Cassie touches a person, she'll feel only heat. Once her weapon starts to evolve, she'll be able to take their abilities through touch, and then eventually just from being in close proximity.

So this is like some sort of comic, yeah? I get zapped to like the future and there's some apocalyptic war and like now people have powers? [She seems a little enthusiastic about this. She's gotten trapped in like Sid's dreams or something. That's what this is.]

I feel like I should be half naked. [Or all naked. She grabs her chest and looks down. If this is Sid's dream, shouldn't her breasts be out more? Shouldn't there be sex? Or actually Sid... Or--]

What about those tights? Superhero outfits have like nothing to them, right? Do we get one of those?

[Because clearly she's lost all sense of reality.]

Wow. But I like totally don't have a superhero name. [Beat.] It would definitely have the word pussy in it.

[Hahaha. She's so amused. Smiling a little widely with a bright smile, she really does look innocent, despite what she just said.]
